Behavioral Consultation &
Functional Behavior Analysis
We provide behavioral consultation to adult and youth group homes, residential care facilities,
day programs and supportive living services. UBI also consults for individuals and families,
as well as for other regional center funded programs and privately funded agencies. Additionally,
part of UBI’s mission is being able to provide pro bono services for some clients who have exceptional
financial pressures.
Verbal Behavior Intervention
Verbal Behavior is an approach to teach functional language to individuals with developmental disabilities
within the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. It uses B.F. Skinner’s 1957 analysis of Verbal
Behavior that analyzes the function of language through the basic verbal operants (echoics, mands,
tacts, intraverbals, LRFFCs, etc.). The Verbal Behavior approach with language is used to teach
that the meaning of a word is found in its function, not in the form of a response. The Verbal
Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VBMAPP) is used as an assessment tool and
guide to set up individualized language-enriched programs for our clients.
School Consultation
We provide consultative services in public and private school settings. We work collaboratively with
teachers, school staff, and families to develop behavior intervention plans and effective systems of
reinforcement that help each child achieve meaningful objectives in the classroom. Our goal is to help
teachers, school staff, and families implement effective teaching methodologies, based on the principles
of Applied Behavior Analysis, to help each child in their classroom meet and exceed their educational
goals.
PECS Consultation / Training
We are enthusiastic providers of training for the Picture Exchange Communication System
for group homes and other residential facilities who have clients who are nonverbal or
with limited verbal ability. We also serve day programs and work privately with individuals
and families.
Continuing Education Seminars
UBI provides continuing education training for Residential Services administrators and staff.
We are also a BACB approved provider of Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for BCBA and BCaBA
professionals, and we are certified to provide CEU credit courses in
behavioral interventions for LCSWs, MFT psychotherapists and licensed psychologists in the
state of California.

Early Intervention
UBI’s Early Intervention program is designed for school age or younger children who have been
diagnosed with developmental disabilities. These services provide specific, individualized
programming, based in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), to address the impaired language, play,
cognitive, social and adaptive functioning that a child may exhibit.
